To The Retired Members Of The Fall River Contributory Retirement System

An election is to be held at the Fall River Retirement Board office located at 30 Third Street, Suite 301, Fall River, MA 02720 on Friday, October 21, 2011 for the purpose of electing a Member of the System to serve on the Fall River Retirement Board for a term of three (3) years. Said term will commence on January 1, 2012 and end December 31, 2014.

All holding membership in the Fall River Retirement System, including retirees, are eligible as candidates provided they file with the Fall River Retirement Board a nomination paper containing the signatures of at least twenty (20) members of the System. The nomination paper must be filed on or before 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 2, 2011.

NOMINATION PAPERS: Nomination papers will be available beginning July 22, 2011 and must be obtained at the office of the Fall River Retirement Board, 30 Third Street, Suite 301, Fall River, MA 02720.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS: If more than one (1) candidate has been nominated, an Official Election Ballot shall be prepared and each retired member of the system shall be sent an absentee ballot by mail. Absentee ballots shall be mailed to retired members on or about October 7, 2011. These ballots shall be counted only if received by the Retirement Board no later than 6:00 P.M. on Friday, October 21, 2011.

*Please note that individuals receiving survivor or dependent allowance benefits are not eligible to participate in this election.
